WHY WEIGHT?

Why weight, because all paths from being overweight lead to decreased self-esteem, vascular disease, cardiac dysfunction, reduced lifespan and yes lack of joy in living. Being overweight affects every aspect of your life - mind, body and spirit. We at Pathways feel every life is too important and precious to be neglected or abused.

We all think we know what it takes to lose weight - less input (food) and more output (exercise).  Well, yes that's part of the formula but as we age there are additional factors at play that force that equation to a new level.  Some of these include changes in hormonal balance, intracellular metabolic changes and importantly, the proper functioning of the insulin - blood glucose interaction. 

Actually good nutrition makes losing weight and becoming a more fit and balanced you easier.  It is far more useful to approach food and eating as a pleasurable, nurturing, nourishing major part of our lives.  The main point of eating is to keep us healthy, happy and fueled with positive energy and vitality.  If you begin to think of eating healthy as a way to improve your overall well-being, supporting your body's natural health and weight regulating systems, rather than just about limiting your caloric intake, nutrition and weight management become a lot more interesting, invigorating and an important part of daily life. 

 But the most important element in weight management is  INTENTION and MOTIVATION coupled with ACTION!
